I Married Adventure
Back in May of 2009 Colette called to tell me her and Dana (her husband) were eloping. I was over the moon ecstatic for her and knew I had to send her a care package before her big day being I wouldn't be there to help them celebrate. I pieced together a bunch of hodgepodge items that would be with her on her special day and then take them on their honeymoon. The last item I found to piece the package together seemed to be my favorite. A couple of weeks before their big day my mother and I were in a local antique store in my hometown of Watertown, South Dakota..... (The antique store is actually inside a home on Kemp Avenue). I happened to stumble upon a book with the title "I Married Adventure"......... the title was perfect and the print on the book was even more perfect. I knew Colette needed this piece of art in her home being that her second love has always been design. When it was time for my wedding I asked Colette if I could borrow the book for our wedding....... it was 'one' of my 'something borrowed' pieces. Years later the book has made its appearance on many blogs, not to mention being in West Elm and Crate & Barrel ads. Such a beautiful piece of art to own!

DIY Cap Toe Tutorial
A Cap Toe appeals to the modern women. It takes the classic heel and gives it an edge. This look has found a place in my closet.
So instead of investing in a new pair of Cap Toe heels I thought it would be adventurous to take an older pair of heels and make it a great DIY project. A while back I bought a grey pair of heels at a resale shop for $10 and I thought these would be the perfect pair to experiment with. I also had a pair of Steve Madden cheetah flats that I was beginning to become a bit bored with........ and thought these too would be the perfect pair to jazz up!
What You Need:
1. A pair of shoes
2. Masking tape
3. A paint brush
4. Acrylic paint
Start by taping off the toe of your heel....... making sure to press firmly!
Next, use your white acrylic paint for the first layer. Let dry for a couple hours and finish with two coats of the color you've chosen. Make sure and peel tape off a little before paint is fully dry...... this makes for an even finish.
Go ahead and give it a try!

Stylish Dining Rooms
Formal dining rooms are still found in today's homes, but informal dining rooms and even outdoor dining rooms are becoming the new trend. The dining room by nature is a simple space for consuming food, but in modern times they provide a space for a variety of functions, including doing homework, paying bills, and working on a hobby. The focus of any dining room is its table, while the chair design creates the overall personality of the room. Today’s dining spaces are more inviting and personal than ever. In many homes, dining areas are adjacent to the kitchen for convenience in serving.

Mix It Up
Prints can take you out of your comfort zone, but it's a good way to take it up a notch and build some confidence into your regular wardrobe. Prints are personal and they add intrigue to any basic outfit. Here are some guidlines on how to pick your prints.
1. Prints look modern when worn with neutrals (grey, black, white, nude)
2. Start with picking a print that is smaller in scale and has fewer colors.
3. Pair your shoes with any of the colors in your print
4. Don't be afraid to try something new!
3 prints I'm lusting after...
